first off... all the pics from August 3rd are up at our Picasa Web Galleries... go there to see everything (all 140 pics from the 3rd)
Got up early and checked out of our hotel, the wonderful Super 8 of West Memphis, AR. It had been our home away from home, and hell, what do you know, there was a Bridgeport Road just a mile away!!
Next we headed back into Tennessee and headed south, to the mecca of sequin and fringe.... Graceland. Today was about ALL THINGS ELVIS. Fortunately, we were allowed to bring our camera in, but could not use the flash, so in some of the darker rooms, it was harder to get the good shots...
or in some of the rooms with lots of mirrors....
Apparently, they say that Elvis is dead, didnt know that, but here is his meditation garden, his grave marker and the Eternal Flame...
then we saw some of Elvis's sweet rides...
Then we saw some of Elvis' sweet threads....
then we saw Elvis' sweet planes (he had two on display, but I think he actually had more!)...
Takin Care of Business! In a Flash!
Then we moved on to see the Army Era Elvis... interesting...
We even got to meet him for a photo op...
Then we left the home of The King and went south, unfortunately, it was getting late and we had to skip the Ornamental Metal Museum (again!) but we will go there FIRST next time were in Memphis ,Ive been wanting to go there for like 10 years... boohoo :'( , oh well, next time. We didnt stop in Tunica, maybe next time. We hit Mississippi quickly and passed Senatobia (my families 'home' in the south) and didnt stop there either, maybe next time. :)
The drive was long, fortunately Amanda drove most of it, yea! It started storming on us for a bit, then my windshield wipers stopped working.. ugh, good thing I had some Rain-X in the glove box (why is it a glove box, ive never put gloves in there...)
We stopped for burritos in Brookhaven MS, and just before 8pm we crossed into Louisiana. Almost there. There was water everywhere it seemed, wow.
We made it to our hotel, the Holiday Inn, French Quarter, by about 9pm. This place rules. It is literally one block from Burbon Street. We can SEE it from our 15th floor window. We got unpacked, settled in, then walked down to the party. Even for a Sunday night, it was pretty crazy, though didnt see any naked people, maybe Monday night. We went from one end to the other, had frozen drinks (Amanda= Hurricane, Jason= 190 Knockout) then went back and crashed out in the hotel. Unfortunately the cameras battery was exhausted after a long day, and we couldnt get any pics but we will for sure get some Monday night.

Elvis is still alive! He performed for my Variety club campers this summer and was a hunk o burnin' love.
ReplyDeleteThe purple convertible is sweet. Elvis was so ahead of his time with those pimped out motorcycles!
Too bad you didn't take Izzy. She would have liked all of the glitter, sequins and rhinestones.
